Weelicious Cookbook

A big congrats to Elizabeth, the winner of Catherine McCord’s new Weelicious cookbook. Luckily for her and her Mexican-food loving family, there are a couple of mouthwatering, Mexican inspired recipes in the book. Enjoy! And thanks to everyone else for joining in the fun!

Every once and a while, a cookbook comes along that has great recipes, but doesn’t take itself too seriously. One that’s fun, but not silly. One that’s warm, but not precious. One that’s healthy, but not extreme. One that makes you—and the kids!—smile. Every once and a while, a cookbook like the new Weelicious cookbook by Catherine McCord comes out.

Over at Cool Mom Picks this week, I went into great detail about why I love the new Weelicious: 140 Fast, Fresh, and Easy Recipes. (For once,) I’ll keep from repeating myself. If you want details about the book—what’s in it, the kind of recipes it offers, why I think it’s one for the wee ages (how does Catherine keep from constantly making “wee” puns?!)—check out my Cool Mom Picks review.

Here, though, I want to tell you a little bit about Catherine. About how she immediately won me over with her warmth and humor. About how impressively hard she works to make Weelicious.com a true resource for parents. And, most of all, about how she maintains an open, laid back approach while remaining totally committed to promoting healthy food and organic eating. From starting an edible garden at her home to engaging her kids in the kitchen, Catherine keeps from preaching and, instead, inspires by doing. And with style, to boot!

Part of what makes the new Weelicious cookbook so great is that it is truly a reflection of its author. Fresh and bright, easy-going and healthy, it’s a cookbook that every family cook should have on the shelf. Which is why I’m thrilled to be giving a copy away!

To enter to win a copy of Weelicious: 140 Fast, Fresh, and Easy Recipes, leave a comment here by Sunday 9/23 midnight PST telling me what family meal gets every single person in your family—from mama and papa to baby—excited about dinner. I will choose one winner at random; US residents only please.

Eveyone looks forward to pizza Friday! Everyone helps out to make their own – from rolling the dough to sprinkling the cheese. My two year old loves to “tuck in ” the dough to help it rise.

Everyone love burrito/taco night. With all the fixings. Avocado being the favorite.

  3. Lynn says:

Everyone loves rice and chicken & veggie stir-fry in our house. Though, our youngest is the pickiest and we have a harder time getting him to eat his veggies.

My husband and I both grew up with homemade pizza Friday. Imagine my dismay upon learning I had to ‘go gluten free’! What’s going to happen to pizza Friday?! As I complete my post, I’m looking at my new bread machine, still in the box, waiting for me to open and use it! Here’s to reinstating pizza Friday!

  7. Megan says:

We love taco night! Chicken, beef, steak or veggie does not make a difference. Everyone is just as excited!

  8. Laurie says:

We all love any kind of soup! Lentil, chili, corn chowder, butternut squash, curry or veggie, and the 2 year old even chowded down on a friend’s seafood stew. She loves to spoon it herself,

  9. Karen says:

Pizza! Everyone helps and it’s always a little bit different each time!!

Everyone loves BRINNER (breakfast/dinner) at our house. I love it because we can do so many varieties with it….breakfast tacos, burritos, fancied up-pancakes, etc! I have already started having my 2 yr old help mix anything and crack eggs. It’s so fun, to “play” in the kitchen.
