Cinnamon Sugar Puffs

I did it! I found the recipe. The one that yields a magical food that is like donut, cinnamon muffin and buttery crumb cake all rolled into one. The one that gives you two bites of heaven. The one for these Oven Baked Cinnamon Sugar Puffs.

These are my palate’s soul mate. They satisfy my appetite in a dangerous way, but I like living on the edge. Especially for love.

I recommend that you save these for a fun, special occasion—brunch with friends, birthday treat or such like. They are too good and, um, too buttery and sugary for regular consumption (especially for little ones). Easter certainly counts and these would definitely make a fabulous addition to your holiday breakfast spread. And—ooh!—maybe you can combine the cinnamon with one of these naturally colored pastel sanding sugars (a OHM Daily Craving, thank you very much!).

Taking it too far? Maybe. Love does that to me.

Screw the Easter Bunny and her basket of cheap chocolates. This year, Easter is all about the Cinnamon Sugar Puff (can be shared with kids 12+ mos)*.

*Note: While there is nothing in these that is unsafe for younger eaters, I recommend these—even on special occasions—for kids 12+ months due to the relatively high sugar content.

    hi, um, Mom. I’m actually really sorry about that. it’s a bummer, i know, and i should have thought to say something in the post (now corrected). but, for the record, it has nothing at all to do with advertising. and the implication is that i make money from click throughs which, for the record, i don’t. the deal here is that, like every week, i post here about my weekly post on Momtastic.com (for which I’m paid a flat writer’s fee that has nothing to do with traffic or click throughs). this week was unusual in that i shared a recipe exactly as posted on Food52, a site with which I have no formal affiliation (I’m just a community me member there, like everyone else). i felt bad about posting a recipe from one site on Momtastic word for word—it’s generally bad form, which is why I point to Food52, the recipe’s place of origin, for the directions. i very rarely post a recipe from another source with adapting it a little bit, which is why this hasn’t happened before. i get nothing out of making my readers go to three places—in fact, i risk annoying them (right?). but it’s a fab recipe and i wanted to make sure that my readers here who don’t also follow me on Momtastic could get the recipe if they want. it’s the simple. anyway, since you seem to have clicked all the way through, i hope you enjoy the recipe as much as i did! (i’m kind of obsessed with it!)
