{back-to-school} Choosing a Better (Nut) Butter

Nut and Seed Butters

It’s almost time to whip out the lunchbox! Some of you have already started packing lunches. (How’s it going?!) Though I’m pretty good at staying inspired—you guys help keep me motivated!—I’m sure I’ll end up packing many PB&J’s this year. Which had me wondering…

How do other nut and seed butters stack up to peanut butter, the childhood gold standard?

With back-to-school finally here, I figure there’s no better time to dig in than now.

Over at Momtastic you’ll find a quick overview of how peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter, sunflower seed butter, soy nut butter and macadamia nut butter compare. I was a little surprised—but happy about—the results. Check it out to find out why!

We’ve had to get pretty creative here because my daughter attends a nut-free school, so no PBJs, no granola, no nuts of any kind. They do allow sun butter (sunflower seed butter) but the kiddo is not a fan and, frankly, neither am I.

Haven’t tried soynut butter, yet, that may be an option.

thanks for this link…..we also are in a nut free school……they even disallowed sunflower butter this year……and no dairy for nutrition breaks…..my poor son will be having his pb&j for breakfast or dinner….he loves them so much!
