I love Sticky Toffee Pudding, (can be shared with kids 24+ mos*). Like, really love it. I might even be obsessed with it. It’s dangerous and, just like with other dangerous foods (can you say doughnuts?), I keep my exposure limited. That way, when I go there, I can really go there. And enjoy every. Single. Bite.
When I first discovered Sticky Toffee Pudding I went crazy. I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t eaten it sooner. I made it my goal to develop a recipe that would become a family heirloom. I tried recipe after recipe, then brought together the best of my favorites to create my own recipe. Which I make only once a year.
This incredibly moist date cake, spiked with allspice, cinnamon and (of all things) coffee, is drenched in the most delicious toffee sauce ever. Served warm, there is not better treat, especially at the end of a big holiday meal. I’ll savor every bite on Saturday, especially the last. Then I’ll start the fun of looking forward to having it again next December 25.
*Note: There is nothing in this cake that cannot be safely shared with eaters younger than 24 months, but this is my recommendation due to the high sugar content. If you plan on sharing this with little ones, over or under 24 months, please be sure to share an age appropriate serving size. Just a little bit will go a long way!
