Hanukkah is underway but, for me at least, it’s been a bumpy start. The eight day holiday began on the Wednesday after Thanksgiving, barely giving me time to prepare. So, this weekend is when the real fun begins at my house! If it’s the same for you, consider making sufganiyot, traditional jelly donuts, with the kiddos this weekend.
It’s way easier than you think. And I give step-by-step instructions on how to involve little ones.
This year, I played with the recipe a bit, adding lemon zest to the dough. I ended up with these totally delicious Lemon Scented Raspberry Jam Donuts. You can make them as is, skip the lemon zest and/or use another kind of jam or jelly. You can even roll them in powdered sugar instead of granulated. Up to you. The important thing is the basic yeasted dough. From there, it’s easy to improvise.
